Privacy Policy

South Florida AI (“we,” “us”) runs southflai.com, a community site for practical AI in South Florida. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and the choices you have. We keep it short and plain on purpose.

What we collect

Email address (when you sign up). If you subscribe to the newsletter, request the Starter Guide, join the membership waitlist, or sign up for job alerts, we collect your email address and which form you used (for example, “starter-guide” or “jobs-digest”) so we send you the right thing.

Usage analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used — pages visited, approximate location (city level), device and browser type, and how you arrived. Google Analytics uses cookies to do this.

Messages you send us. If you email us or book a call, we receive whatever you choose to share (such as your name, email, and message).

Event suggestions. When you submit an event, we collect your email, the event name and link, and any optional details you share. Submissions are stored privately on Railway for review. We may publish selected event details, but we do not publish your contact email or subscribe you to marketing emails through this form. Please do not include personal health information.

Event buddy requests. We collect your display name, email, chosen event, connection goal, meeting preference, and consent. A community reviewer can see these details and propose a match. A proposed buddy sees your display name, goal, and preference. Email addresses are shared with each other only after both people accept that specific pairing.

Member spotlights. We collect your submitted name, email, role, area, story, offer of help, connection interests, optional public profile link, and permission to publish. A reviewer can approve your public fields for the spotlights page. Your contact email stays private. These forms are for adults submitting their own details and do not subscribe you to marketing emails.

Private access links. Your saved link lets you check, accept, decline, or withdraw your request. Anyone who has it can act on your request, so keep it private. The access key is stored as a hash on our server. We do not run Google Analytics on the buddy form, spotlights, private request, or review pages. We do not email private links or send automatic match notifications.

We don't ask for payment information on this site.

How we use it

We use your email to send the newsletter, guides, event updates, job alerts, or membership news you asked for. We use analytics to improve the site. We use messages to reply to you.

We never sell your personal information.

Services we rely on

We use a small number of trusted providers to run the site:

  • MailerLite — stores subscriber emails and sends our emails.
  • Google Analytics — site usage analytics.
  • Cal.com — if you book a call, your booking is handled under Cal.com's privacy policy.
  • Railway — hosts the website and stores private event and community submissions.

Each provider processes data on our behalf under its own privacy and security terms.

Links to other sites

We link to events, job postings, sponsors, and other organizations. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which we don't control.

Your choices

  • Unsubscribe from any email at any time using the link at the bottom of every message.
  • Ask us to access, correct, or delete your information by emailing ashley@waymaker.cx.
  • Block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or use Google's Analytics opt-out add-on.

Retention and security

Buddy requests expire after 30 days and are removed on the next community data access. Spotlight submissions remain until you withdraw them or a reviewer deletes them. Withdraw using your saved private link to remove your request, published spotlight, and any active pairing. If you lose the link, contact us from the submitted email address for help. We cannot recall details already received by an accepted buddy or copies others made of a public profile.

We keep subscriber information until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. We use reputable providers and reasonable safeguards, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Children

This site is intended for adults. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes and contact

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Questions? Email ashley@waymaker.cx. See also our Terms of Use.
