Tech Things to Do in South Florida Beyond Another Conference
Try builder demos, a hackathon, a library class, a startup showcase, or your own small project session—each with a clear way to participate.
Watch something being built
A demo night lets you see how people approach real problems and gives you a concrete topic to discuss afterward. AI Tinkerers Miami focuses on live projects and technical discussion. Check its current event requirements before applying; a technical meetup may expect familiarity with building AI systems.
Bring one question about the work: what failed, how the builder tested it, or what a user found confusing. You do not need to agree with every technical choice to have a useful conversation. Ask permission before photographing or sharing someone’s unfinished project.
Build with other people
A hackathon offers a shared task and a defined finish line. The eMerge AI Hackathon’s October 2026 organizer page invites developers, designers, founders, and domain experts, including people coming solo. Read the rules and apply before attending; acceptance and places are controlled by the host.
You can contribute through customer research, interface design, testing, documentation, or a clear demo. Agree on a small scope, roles, and what the group will show at the end. For a smaller commitment, invite two peers to a 90-minute project session in a space where working together is permitted. That is a self-organized activity, not a scheduled SouthFLAI event.
Learn locally, then compare notes
Explore the library and workshop listings in our events calendar. A class gives you a task to try and a natural opportunity to ask another participant how they plan to use it. Confirm eligibility, registration, equipment, and prerequisite skills on the library or organizer’s own page.
For a creative outing, Adobe MAX lists Miami Beach and online programming for November 10–12, 2026. WIRED World Fair lists a technology-and-culture event in Miami on November 4. Choose based on what you want to experience and check ticket options before making travel plans.
Meet the people behind a startup
The Levan Center’s November 18 Startup Showcase lists pitches and networking in Broward. Watching a pitch can help you practice explaining a problem clearly. Introduce yourself with a specific observation or question about the product, and ask whether feedback would be welcome.
Other self-organized options include a two-person product teardown, a public-dataset project, a portfolio feedback session, or a short show-and-tell with friends. Pick a deliverable you can finish and a time to stop. The shared activity can make meeting someone feel much more natural than a formal networking session.
