AI in South Florida: What's Being Built Here in 2026
From a planned ServiceNow AI hub in West Palm Beach to new AI degrees at local colleges, South Florida is quietly building real AI capacity. Here's what's happening — with sources.
A Region Building Real AI Capacity
South Florida's AI story isn't one headline — it's employers, universities, and community programs all investing at the same time. That matters for anyone here who wants to work with AI: the opportunities are increasingly local, and the experience you already have in healthcare, finance, hospitality, logistics, real estate, or education is exactly what these teams need alongside the technology.
ServiceNow's AI Hub in West Palm Beach
ServiceNow announced a regional AI hub in West Palm Beach, developed with Related Ross: roughly 200,000 square feet that will include an AI Institute, a startup accelerator, and ServiceNow University for AI education and certification. Projections cited at the announcement were 850+ jobs and $1.8 billion in economic activity through 2030, with the hub expected to open in 2028.
The hiring has already started — ServiceNow currently lists several West Palm Beach roles, including founding engineering leadership for the hub. You can see them on our jobs board.
NextEra Energy and Google Cloud
Juno Beach–based NextEra Energy, parent of Florida Power & Light, announced an expanded partnership with Google Cloud in December 2025. It covers plans for new gigawatt-scale data center campuses and the use of Google Cloud's AI across NextEra's operations — a sign that AI is reshaping one of the region's largest employers from the inside.
Universities and Colleges Are All In
Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton runs the Center for Connected Autonomy and AI and offers a Master of Science with a major in AI, including a professional track for working adults.
Miami Dade College received state approval for a Bachelor of Science in Applied Artificial Intelligence — reported as Florida's first — alongside an associate degree and college credit certificates in AI. FIU launched a B.S. in Data Science and AI in fall 2024 and an M.S. in Applied AI and IoT in fall 2025. The University of Miami's Frost Institute for Data Science and Computing provides AI and machine-learning services, computing resources, and training.
Palm Beach State College, Broward College, and Indian River State College have added AI certificates and associate degrees too — see our guide to learning AI in South Florida for the details.
A Growing Community Calendar
Beyond employers and schools, there's a steady rhythm of practical AI events: chamber programs in West Palm Beach and Delray, library classes, monthly meetups in Boca, Fort Lauderdale, and Miami, hackathons, and large conferences like eMerge Americas. Our events page tracks the ones we can verify.
What This Means for You
If you're a professional, the best move is to pair what you already know with hands-on AI skills — that combination is what local employers are hiring for. If you run a business, the talent and training pipeline here is getting stronger every semester. And if you're simply curious, there's never been more to learn within a short drive.
